August Rush

I went to my mom’s for dinner tonight, to celebrate Father’s day with my grandfather early, since my family will be out of town next weekend. My grandfather brought along August Rush for us to watch.

This film starts like any good wholesome family movie should. With a one night stand at a drunken party. Over controling parents, and fist fights round out the begining of this film. We then have an unplanned pregnancy, caused by our one night stand, which leads to a young child raised in an orphanage.

Ok now that I have my scarcasm out of the way…

This movie is slow to get going, but the lessons in the movie, and the music are amazing. Once the movie got going, I couldn’t tear my eyes off the screen.  The story is of a young child who is raised in an orphanage. He says he can hear the music in the sky, and everything around him speaking to him. It tells him his parents are out there. He believes his parents will find him if only they hear his music.

Robin Williams, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Freddie Highmore star in this movie about music, and hearing music in everything around you. I give this movie 4 stars out of 5. I highly recommend renting if not purchasing the film (which is what I am off to Amazon.com to do right now).

  1. Hi Liadan,

You’re right, the movie is amazing, but I think that you were a little harsh about the beginning. I think that I’m going to get it also:)

    Hi Liadan,

The first time i saw the movie synopsis (or resume of story) i thought the movie would be “sound of the music-like).

But i must admit. This movie is on its own class (at least until now).

Well, i was thinking to the cinema to watch this movie. But for some reasons, i was holding back. Thats after my colleague spoke of the movie during lunch.

“It was a great movie! A MUST SEE!!!”, they told me.

Well, not enough reason for me to hold down anymore. I went to the cinema that weekend. And guess what? IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE.

I guest all the chemistry needed on a movie to be great was on August Rush. The script, the camera, the edit, music score. God. A few days before i watched the movie, my friend lend me her just-bought-august rush-OST-CD. The music score. I just love it. I listen to it while i work and it made me shiver by listening it.

    hehe. thats my story. :D
