I saw a news article on Reuters.com yesterday that made me laugh.

Friday 13th is not more unlucky, study shows. A study by the Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics shows that there are fewer accidents, fires or thefts on Friday the 13th. However, average value of the losses reported on Friday the 13th are larger.

I’ve never been superstitious, and I find it rather funny when I am speaking to someone who is overly superstitious. My favorite of all the superstitions was that the world would end on 6/6/2006 because of the 666 (Devil’s number) factor. Obviously for most of the people in the world, here we are 2 years later alive and kicking.

Anyways, my own Friday the 13th was not unlucky. I hope you all had a wonderful Friday the 13th.

Its June already and life is busier than ever. Some days when I get a minute to stop and think I wonder where my time has gone. I remember when I was a kid and summer was not so hectic. Now that I’m grown I wonder how my parents ever made it through the summer sane.

Now that I am grown and have a job, I think of the times when as a child we traveled during the summer.

As an adult I see my 5 weeks of vacation time, and wonder, when I have children, how am I going to ensure that by the time summer comes around I will have enough vacation time to go to Disney Land or on the family vacation that I know will be required over the summer break.

When I have children, I don’t want them to remember the summer as the most boring part of the year, but as a time when they had fun. I’m sure every parent wants this.

I honestly don’t see how my mother was able to raise me and my sisters and still have time to think at night. I don’t have children and I rarely have time to think. And when I do, I wish I was a kid again and didn’t have to bother.

So I’ve been slacking when it comes to writing. I always have something to occupy my time, and sometimes I let things I want to do slide for other things that I want to do. Tonight however, I can’t sleep and I can’t see to do more than a little writing.

This past Wednesday, I woke up with my right eye in severe pain. After showering and the ride to work on Trax I was still hardly able to open my eye and I was in tears trying to figure out how I would manage my day. Pulling up to the Trax station I noticed 4 LDS Missionairies waiting to catch the train I was on heading the other way. I knew that if I asked them they would give me a priesthood blessing.

Desperately wanting to make it through the day I walked down to where they were and asked for the blessing. As with all priesthood blessings, it is never what you expect that is said but what the Lord inspires his servants to say. My blessing was that I would be granted relief and use of my eyes long enough for me to do what I needed to do for the day. I am so thankful that I have the gospel in my life, and that my mother cared enough that she ensured that when the time came I could see the Elders and know to ask “Elders, may I please have a priesthood blessing.” I made it to work with the limited vision I had.

I am greatly thankful for my new job. My bosses are so understanding and unlike many places It is truely you that they care about, not their phones. While I am still in training me being on the phones isn’t a [art of my job, however; My bosses helped me in locating doctors to try to get an appointment for my eye, offered to drive me to the Emergancy Room when that was the answer the doctors had for my condition, and told me to keep them updated if I needed the next day off because of my eye.

It turns out that I have either a really bad eye infection which is my guess seeing how the antibiotics I was given work better than the allergy medicines I was given, or a really bad case of allergies. As I said I think it is the eye infection I have, mainly because Friday at work I accidentally put my contacts in the wrong eyes after having taken them out to put in my eye drops. My left eye started itching, but I put a little of the antibiotic in and it went away.

Anyways here I am at 1:45 in the morning, unable to sleep and I thought I would check in and let you all know that I am doing well. Blind as a bat at the moment, and unable to sleep, but life is still treating me well. Granted, I think my insomnia is more due to that I went to bed at 6pm to take my mind off that I was blind as a bat and that my eyes needed a rest.. lol.

I read my baby sister’s blog about her trip to England, and I caught up with my mommy’s blogs. I need to remind myself to email my sister tomorrow as I have a song for her. I don’t think I am by any means the best sister as I forget a lot of times until I can’t sleep that I need to do something. I probably don’t make the best friend either since I’m pretty much the same way when it comes to my friends. If I don’t have something written down I don’t do it.

Anyways.. Enough of my ramblings. I am going to try to get a little bit of sleep.

Hello Everyone

Here I am checking in… lol.

Well, life has been kinda hectic for me recently. New job, Brother is moving and taking away my 2 cute nieces and 1 very cute nephew (his children), My baby sister is going to England soon…

Soon all of my side of the family that will be left here in Utah is my Mom and my Grandpa. Now while they live here in Utah, I don’t get the chance to visit very often because it takes about 45 minutes to an hour just to travel down to see them.

With my new job, I am absoutely loving it. A LOT less stress and I look forward to going to work everyday. That is something I haven’t experienced for a long time. Its a great feeling to want to go to work, and learn about everything they can teach you. I started applying what I am learning at work to use it for things I like to do. Having a lot of fun learning to use the program I will support using it to analyze things I am doing anyways in real life.

I am slowly getting used to being back from vacation.. I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation, and am somewhat bummed to be home. California was beautiful and it was wonderful to get away from home.

Ok well anyways now that I have caught up with whats going on in my life.. lets get to my soapbox lol. This week I want to rant about the Imus controversy.

For those that haven’t see the news this week, Imus is a radio show host who has for a long time made borderline racist jokes as well as ranks women below men. Durring his show this week he called the Reuteger’s Woman’s Basketball team a bunch of nappy haired ho’s.  Of course.. this has sparked some controversy over what people say on the radio.

My gripe about this is, when hes made the borederline acceptable comments in the past where has the outrage and dicipline they are pulling out this week? The answer is easy… His comments in the past have been about whites, not african americans or minorities. This is your normal controversy its now an issue becauseImus is white, not black. If you watch black entertainers like Chris Rock or Cedric the Entertainer, their shows are full of racist remarks and the N word, but you get a caucasion saying the same thing and it becomes unacceptable. 

Here is my rant my question… For all the African Americans living in the US, How can you honestly expect the “White Man” as you put it to respect you at all if you go around calling eachother the N word, and acting like how you get upset about when the “White Man” disses on you. Another thing.. When blacks who are in the spotlight like Bill Cosby say something similar you get upset that he is “Out of touch with the black community” and label him a traitor to his kind. Really get a clue.

You can’t demand to be respected when you don’t even respect yourself. This goes for anyone white black asian hispanic or otherwise. We need to be tolerant of those who are not like us but honestly people.. Get over your “You don’t like me cuz I’m black” and start respecting yourself. No one is going to respect you until you get off your rearend and respect yourself.
